ROVOS RAIL - DURBAN SAFARI
"Rovos Rail’s three day journey between Pretoria and Durban includes incredible scenery, exceptional wildlife, historic battlefields and modern African Ceramics."
Rovos Rail’s journey between Pretoria and Durban includes incredible scenery, exceptional wildlife; the historic battlefields and modern African Ceramics – all within 3 days. During your trip you get to experience the malaria-free Nambiti Conservancy – a Big Five private Reserve, set on some 20 000 acres in the province of KwaZulu-Natal. The Reserve boasts excellent biodiversity, as it includes savannah, and thornveld with tall acacia trees. In addition, the Sundays River flows through the Reserve, and this stretch of River includes two 40-metre waterfalls with ravine bush habitat, making it home to several rare species of bird. Then there is Spionkop Lodge, which is adjacent to an 11 000-acre Nature Reserve, making it an excellent place from which to explore the surrounds – which include mountains, bush, birds and the battlefields for which the region is famous. Lastly (but certainly not least) is Ardmore Ceramics – with its story of the Zulu people whose sense of rhythm, colour, dance and song, and not a little African imagination, is making its influence known world-wide. You get to pay a morning visit to the Ardmore Centre, set in the hills of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, before finishing your journey at Durban Station.
